Endovenous Laser Ablation
This is a minimally invasive procedure performed at one of our locations to treat Varicose Veins. The process involves the following: First we insert a laser fiber into the problematic vein. The laser heats the vein walls causing the faulty vein to close. The other healthy veins take over the closed vein's function, thereby re-establishing normal flow to the legs and eliminating varicose veins. The in-office procedure takes about 2 hours after which the patient can return to normal activities. This procedure is usually covered by insurance. This procedure has the following benefits:
- The chance of developing stasis ulcers is reduced.
- A decrease in pain.
- More efficient blood circulation
This process is used to eliminate Spider Veins. In order to achieve the desired result, a chemical agent is injected into the problematic veins to shrink them. Overall, in two to three days, symptoms begin to disappear and 70-80 percent of the unsightliness is gone. Treatments are done 6 weeks apart. The number of treatments required depends on the amount of veins being treated.
Using a local anesthesia, our doctors are able to remove bulging veins using a tiny incision and surgical hooks. The incisions are then closed with steri-strips. Most of the time the patient can go home the day of the procedure.
Laser Removal of Veins
Usually the final approach to vein removal, or if a spider vein is very small, then we can remove the veins using lasers. The laser damages the vein using heat, which then causes the veins to die and turn into scar tissue. After time the vein disappears.
