Another treatment considered at AVTIC is ambulatory phlebectomy. Used to remove small problematic veins, a tiny incision is made in the skin, and then with surgical hooks, the vein is removed from the leg. Ambulatory phlebectomy is performed on an outpatient basis in a doctor’s office, and patients can return to work the same day. Discomfort during and after the treatment is so minimal that it is relatively painless.

To follow-up treatment, patients need to wear compression stockings for one to two weeks, as well as walk for 30 minutes a day which helps to get the blood flowing as much as possible.
