Facial Fillers

Smooth, youthful skin shouldn’t be limited by age or scarring, and facial fillers are a wonderful way to support a rejuvenated version of yourself!

Facial fillers can be considered a cousin procedure to the more well-known facelift, but the key differentiating point is the cost: facial fillers cost a fraction of what a facelift costs. Results can last anywhere from four months to a year, and the procedure is so effective that the targeted creases or lines essentially disappear. Facial fillers can also work to enhance features, plumping areas such as cheeks or filling out thin lips. The procedure can even be applied to areas such as chins, jawlines, temples, and hands!

So, how do they work?

The most popular type of wrinkle filler is hyaluronic acid, and within this type are various compositions of the filler that depend on the treatment. Hyaluronic acid is injected into the treatment site, which is the area determined to be lacking in collagen. Collagen is the main structural protein found in skin, and there is some research that suggests repeated injections can help stimulate the body’s natural production of the protein. Even more encouragingly, some studies have found that less filler is needed over time to achieve the same look.

Here at the Center, we are proud to offer two types of facial fillers, hyaluronic acid (Juvaderm®) and a synthetic wrinkle filler (Radiesse® and Bellafill®). Synthetic wrinkle fillers differ from hyaluronic acid (discussed above) in that they are a lab-made substance. The potential side effects do not differ greatly from those associated with the injection of hyaluronic acid: redness, swelling, or bruising at the site of the injections. Sometimes little bumps can appear under the skin as well.

While there are many positives to consider when looking into having a facial filler procedure, it’s important to be mindful of any existing allergies and to disclose these to the doctor before the procedure. Minor allergic reactions to the injections are fairly common, but also tend to be initial reactions that don’t affect the long-term appearance of the rejuvenated skin. The most important factor to consider when considering a facial filler treatment is the doctor who is administering the procedure, and we can assure prospective patients that they are in great hands with Dr. Safvi. Don’t just take our word for it though, schedule your initial consultation today!
