Say goodbye to wrinkles with this microsphere-enhanced filler that is considered one of the best lasting solutions for wrinkle correction. Our patients love this treatment for its simplicity, efficiency, and overall elegant feel.
Bellafill® is a synthetic facial filler, composed of synthetic microspheres and bovine (cow) collagen. Why cow collagen? Well, collagen from cows is actually how the entire facial filler treatment developed. Researchers who first experimented with cow collagen found it to be very effective in reducing wrinkles and taking years off appearance, however, the effects weren’t as long-term as they would have liked. Bellafill works to preserve the longevity of the cow collagen. Working in conjunction with the local anesthetic, lidocaine, the synthetic microspheres remain permanently in the skin while the cow collagen is absorbed by the body. This absorption cues the body to begin producing more collagen, which is what gives the treatment its long-lasting effect.
What differentiates Bellafill from other facial fillers is the precision and training required by the administrator of the treatment (i.e. your doctor). Injection depth is critical to the success of the procedure. Bellafill is injected just under the skin using a tunnel or threading technique. Radiesse and Juverderm, which are also offered here at the Center, utilize this technique as well.
Things to keep in mind
Because bovine collagen is central to the treatment, an allergy pre-test is necessary one month before your scheduled procedure. The best way to know if Bellafill is right for you is to call and schedule an initial consultation, but there is a general profile of person that would be a good candidate. If you:
- Are over the age of 18
- Have tried other types of dermal fillers and want permanent results
- Have no known allergy to bovine collagen or lidocaine
- Have no chronic or existing skin infections, rashes, or acne
- Are not taking aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) drugs
- Not currently undergoing immunosuppressive therapy
- Are not pregnant or breastfeeding
The permanency of Bellafill means that results may last 5-7 years or longer, and its convenience is highlighted by minimal treatments performed with a minimally invasive approach. For more information or to schedule your consultation, please call our Center for more information.
