Vein Treatment Options

Here at Advanced Vein Treatment & Cosmetic Center, we are proud to offer three different minimally invasive vein treatments for our patients. Our recommended procedure(s) will depend on what your particular circumstance is, as we approach every patient as an individual.

Endovenous Laser Ablation

This treatment is typically recommended for chronic vein conditions that seem to be difficult to manage without surgery. Historically, surgery has been a go-to method to treat vein conditions, however, in recent years, endovenous laser ablation (ELA) has essentially replaced surgery as a more effective and less invasive treatment option. ELA boasts a high success rate as well as low complication rates, making it a popular choice for elective treatment by patients experiencing symptoms consistent with a chronic vein condition or who have already been diagnosed as having weakened vein structures.

ELA is typically performed in conjunction with the administration of a mild anesthetic and no sedative. Essentially, the procedure involves applying sufficient thermal energy to the wall of the irreversibly weakened vein in order to encourage its disappearance entirely. Following treatment, patients will be directed to immediately encase their legs in compression stockings, which encourages blood flow and strengthening of vein walls. A daily walking regimen will likely also be prescribed to further encourage circulatory health.

Sclerotherapy

This treatment involves a chemical injection into the affected vein. The injection produces a tiny clot that the body will naturally work to reabsorb. As this natural bodily function is occurring, the blood vessel will be permanently removed, leading to a reduction in chronic vein symptoms.

Sclerotherapy is a popular choice of treatment for those seeking to improve their symptoms of venous insufficiency. Venous insufficiency is medical shorthand for vein conditions such as spider veins that affect the everyday feel and appearance of veins. The precision of this treatment also makes it a popular elective procedure for patients seeking a cosmetic treatment for unsightly marks that have developed as a result of a vein condition. You may be a good candidate for sclerotherapy if you currently use compression stockings but are finding them to be ineffective at managing your venous insufficiency or you are of a healthy body weight and wish to do away with small-but-unsightly superficial veins.

Phlebectomy

This procedure involves the physical removal of varicose veins that are near the surface of the skin. It is typically a very straightforward treatment, only requiring a local anesthetic, and can be performed at your physician’s office. The patient remains awake and alert while the doctor works on the affected area that has been numbed by the anesthetic, and immediately following the procedure, the area will be wrapped snugly in a compression wrap, and daily activity can resume within 24 hours.
